* ST ANTHONY OF PADUA
St Anthony of Padua

Saints nowadays are not particularly thought about as much as times before us, however they are considered to be great role model for Christians as they weren’t considered perfectly good, like Jesus and God is. They were ordinary people with great beliefs, surely we can relate to them easily if they were just like us?

The saint that means something to me is St Anthony. Although my confirmation name is after St Teresa, I find I pray to St Anthony more. My reason for this? It is considered St Anthony helps recover lost items and I am always losing everything!

St Anthony was born as Fernando Martins de Bulhões in Lisbon, Portugal in 1195 and died in Padua, Italy in 1231. He is often known as St Antony of Padua and is proclaimed a “Doctor of the Church.” When I was growing up, I was always told to pray to St Anthony when I lost something and often it worked. I hope he continues to help me out when I need him and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was very soon!
