As well as our one-off events (like the Lumos weekends or school assemblies), we're also really keen to work consistently with groups of young people as they develop in their faith. We view this as an essential part of our work because it gives each individual the opportunity to discover their gifting over a longer period of time...
The two main programmes we're running at the moment are what we call 'formation' courses, in as much as they're geared towards forming young people for leadership within the church and wider society.
Our course specifically focussed on leadership is called 'Salt and Light', and runs each year from September to July. Every participant is asked to develop a project in their parish or school, which they then undertake and evaluate with the help of an adult mentor. For more information about the Salt and Light team 09-10, you can email the programme leader Neil on neil@nymo.org
Our other course that we are leading as a pilot this year is the Revelation course for 16-25 year olds. It's an opportunity for the participants to spend 6-8 months focussing on the Bible and its impact on our everyday lives. As well as learning loads of information (in a fun way), the group are also going to develop resources for other young people to explore the Bible on their own...
